Albert Miller, born 3rd March 1896, was the brother of William Miller who was killed in action in 1915 serving with the Suffolk Regiment. William is commemorated on the village memorial. The family lived at 491 Bramford Road, Ipswich, then in the ecclesiastical parish of Bramford. Albert and William were the sons of Benjamin and Eliza Miller. The evidence for Albert’s service during the war comes from a nephew who says that he “was very badly wounded having lost an eye and leg and pensioned off at 19 years old”. This is borne out by a Pension Record card for the above man whose address is given as 491 Bramford Road, Ipswich. Albert had enlisted on the 26th October 1915 and was discharged as unfit on 14th March 1919.
In 1911 Albert is a General Labourer working for a Chemical Manure works which could have been Packards or Fisons but no man of this name appears on the Packard Roll.

Albert G Miller married Rose E Thorrington in Ipswich in 1923. In the 1939 Register Albert G Miller born 3rd March 1896 is living at 481 Bramford Road with wife Rose. He is a described as a “General Labour” but with no comment about any disability.
He died in Ipswich in 1955.
